We Are The BlackPrint

YEAR: 2025

ROLES: FILM DIRECTOR + CREATIVE DIRECTOR + WARDROBE STYLIST + ASSISTANT EDITOR + SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT

Overview

“We Are The BlackPrint” is a visual tribute to Black culture’s profound influence on fashion, style, and identity. Created for FAST (Fashion and Student Trends) at UCLA, the project uses a nostalgic 90s-inspired yearbook concept to celebrate the cultural staples and style movements that Black communities have pioneered and shaped.

DIrection

As the director, I developed the visual concept around the idea of the “Blackprint” — the blueprint Black culture has created and continues to leave across fashion. The narrative moves through different expressions of Black style, from streetwear to Afrocentric fashion and beyond, highlighting the individuality and cultural significance behind each one. The film and photoshoot I directed were intentionally rooted in the visuals of a 90s yearbook, combining nostalgic imagery with fashion-focused cinematography. I directed the models, movement, compositions, and visual transitions to create something that felt like flipping through a yearbook while simultaneously watching Black fashion history come to life. The contrast between the nostalgic concept and the modern execution allowed the film to feel both celebratory and editorial.  “We Are The BlackPrint” was created to celebrate influence, not simply representation. Black culture has been a blueprint for countless fashion movements, aesthetics, and cultural moments, and this project was my way of visually acknowledging that legacy. I wanted the film to feel proud, nostalgic, energetic, and deeply rooted in the idea that we didn’t just contribute to culture — we help create it.

This project is especially meaningful to me as it was my first video shoot as a director, allowing me to expand my creative direction from still imagery into film, movement, and narrative storytelling.
